Academic Associates

Academic Associates positions are a stepping-stone for future Academicians and Researchers. Academic Associates often pursue further studies like Ph.D. and become faculty members at reputed Institutions.

The Institute hires Academic Associates to assist faculty members with their various academic activities. Applicants must preferably be postgraduates or engineering graduates with first-class degrees and three years or more of experience in academia or industry. Applicants with Ph.D., with or without experience, may also apply for this position. Candidates with outstanding academic achievements but no prior experience may be considered for this position.

Depending on the requirements, different areas and centres at the Institute may seek specific qualifications or experience.

An Academic Associate is expected to spend up to five years at the Institute, gain the necessary skills and understanding of their area of specialization and leave the Institute to take up higher academic positions in other academic Institutions in India or abroad.

The primary task of an Academic Associate consists of acting as a Teaching Assistant or providing other academic help to faculty members. Typical work may include:

  • To work with faculty members as may be assigned by the Area Chair.
  • To assist faculty members in activities related to course design, and delivery in any of the Institutional programmes. This includes help in preparation/revision of course outline, reading list, class handouts, simulations, presentation slides etc.
  • Correction/grading of answer sheets/quizzes/projects/assignments as instructed by faculty member(s).
  • To conduct attendance marking and tabulation, class participation marking and tabulation, setting up necessary teaching aids as instructed, tracking progress in class projects, assignments etc.
  • To provide tutorial support including remedial classes, to students as instructed by faculty member.
  • To mandatorily participate in all briefings, discussions and training organized by instructor(s), academic officers, programme chairpersons, Dean, AADEC and Area Chair.
  • Compulsorily participate in invigilation duties and attend pre-examination briefing and post examination debriefing by faculty.
  • To report instances of students’ behaviour that violates Institutes code of conduct. They should familiarize themselves with the programme manual.
  • To learn such tools, techniques and software applications required for conducting high quality research and apply the same as required by faculty member(s).
  • To assist faculty in their research, case writing, teaching note/exercise development and paper writing.
  • To initiate research and case writing projects under the guidance of faculty member(s).
  • To coordinate with Research and Publications Office, Case Unit etc. for matters related dissemination of research output, registration of cases/teaching notes /exercise etc.
  • Co-ordination with Academic Offices and other support offices.

Academic Associates are also encouraged to carry out independent research, with informal guidance/collaboration with faculty members or with their peers.

Terms and Salary:

A consolidated remuneration of Rs. 35,000/- to Rs. 40,000/- will be offered, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to the monthly salary, Rs. 8,000/- will be provided towards housing support. Academic Associates are also encouraged to engage in research activities, and the Institute facilitates participation in conferences by offering financial support for paper presentations. An annual development is also be provided to support self-development, including attending domestic conferences.

The positions are contractual, initially for a period of two years, with renewal based on annual performance evaluation. The total duration of the contract will be up to five years.
