Alumni & External Relations Office

About the Department

The Alumni and External Relations Office is responsible for Global Partnerships and International Affairs, Academic and Corporate Collaborations, Strategic Initiatives, Government Engagement, Alumni Relations, and Community Engagement. It is the single point of contact for all alumni related queries and activities and connects alumni with faculty, students, and others at the Institute through various platforms including Reunions, Chapters, Alumni Special Interest Groups, The WIMWIAN alumni magazine, Events etc. The AER Office engages with external organizations to develop collaborations for student exchange, research, mobility, big data lab, community engagement, create avenues for students to participate in competitions/awards etc. It develops and runs strategic initiatives and supports all arms of the institute in their initiatives.

Brief of Services/Functions of the Department

Alumni Relations

  • The AER office organizes the Reunions “Back to Campus”

  • The AER office has Alumni Special Interest Groups of alumni and faculty of the institute with expertise and
    interest in the different fields.

  • The AER office provides Alumni ID card to alumni.

  • Alumni get the access to Alumni Portal/ Website

  • The AER office sends tri-annual alumni magazine “The WIMWIAN” to all
    the alumni both hard copy and web version.

  • The AER office organizes Young Alumni Achievers Awards to recognize young leaders
    who have made an inspiring impact in various fields.

  • Alumni can join different Chapter across the world and AER office coordinates
    with Chapter Coordinators for the same.

  • The AER Office give them a platform to Connect with Campus Events.

  • AER Office announces Scholarships/ Awards for different categories like
    Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

  • Communication & Media

  • Visiting Chair Professors

  • The AER office sends out the invitation for the Convocation, looks after the arrangement for the
    alumni who come for the convocation.

  • The AER office also has an initiative a school for underprivileged students, called SMILE.

  • The AER office coordinates A-league activities between different institutes and schools
    and the current students for the same.

  • The AER office also provides necessary support to the Endowment Fund.

Student Exchange Programme

ALUMNI status will be awarded to participants who opt for Alumni status 

On application, verification, and payment of fee, a card will be issued.

Short Duration Programmes (Less than 21 days) 

MDPs/EEPs 

Participants of these programmes will be eligible to become alums if they have participated in multiple short duration programmes; the total duration of all these programmes should be 21 days or more. This applies to participants attending an IIMA MDP for the first time on or after 1st April 2012. 

One-time Alumni fee of Rs. 10,000 +18% GST 

ALUMNI status will be awarded, and an Alumni card will be issued only when such participants meet the 21-day norm 

Once the eligibility condition is met and on application, verification, and payment of fee, a card will be issued. 

Medium Duration Programmes (21 days or more) 

Open enrolment MDP/MEP/FDP/AFP/3-TP 

One-time Alumni fee of Rs. 10,000 +18% GST 

The applicable Alumni status will be awarded to participants, once they opt for it 

On application, verification, and payment of fee, a card will be issued. 

In-company/CEP Program Participants: Participants should have undergone a screening process (written test/interview) for selection and performance assessment. 

  • 1st April 2012 to 1st August 2016 

One-time Alumni fee of Rs. 50,000 +18% GST 

In the company program need to have completed 200 sessions and paid alumni fees to become alumni 

Once the eligibility condition is met and on application, verification, and payment of fee, a card will be issued. 

In-company/CEP Program Participants Participants should have undergone a screening process (written test/interview) for selection and performance assessment. 

  • 2nd August 2016 Onwards 

One-time Alumni fee of Rs. 25,000 +18% GST 

They need to have attended minimum of 21 days of programmes and paid alumni fees to become alumni 

Once the eligibility condition is met and on application, verification, and payment of fee, a card will be issued. 

Alumni Portal

Alumni Portal: http://alumni.iima.ac.in/ 

Functions of the Portal: 

  • The portal is a repository of alumni data.

  • It allows alumni to connect with each other and share information, updates about activities of their interest. 

  • The institute uses the portal to share information about institutional activities.

  • Alumni Special Interest Groups (ASIG): Dean-AER and AVP-AEP lead the activities of all ASIGs 

  • Young Alumni Achiever’s Awards (YAAA) - YAAA is an initiative to recognize young leaders who have made an inspiring impact in various fields.
