Has been awarded the ICCR Chair Professorship at Copenhagen Business School for 2012-13 which may be operationalized from  0ct  2012.

Faculty co-chair for the 4 week training programmes (6 nos) for very senior (26 years plus experience) IAS officers (Phase v, offered)  for the joint Kennedy School of Government – Indian Institute of Management programme titled "Governance Challenges for India"

Designed, initiated and promoted the Post Graduate Programme in Public Management and Policy, a one year mid career MBA for civil servants, public and private sector managers and senior NGO staff interested in public management and policy. Currently chairs the same programme

Initiated, and established  the Centre for Infrastructure Policy and Regulation at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Currently chairs the Centre.

Initiated and lead  the IIMA-Idea Telecom Centre for Excellence

Chairperson of the 3rd Committee on Future Directions (for IIMA), consisting of members of the Board of Governors of the IIMA and IIMA faculty, which studied higher education in India, the role of the IIMA in management education and recommended the strategy that IIMA should adopt.

Won the EXIM Bank's International Trade Research Award (ITRA), 1990 for the doctoral dissertation `Foreign Direct Investment from India: 1964-85'. This award was instituted during the Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary year, and is given to the best doctoral dissertation in the area of international trade and related financings submitted by Indian nationals, to a university or academic institution in India or abroad and carries a cash prize of Rs.50,000 and a citation.

Was recipient of the post-doctoral Ford Foundation Fellowship, 1991-92 in economics. This led to a visiting fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, Economics Dept. during 1993-94.

Was selected by the Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC) to edit (four thus far) of  their India Infrastructure Reports. The work involves conceptualization of the issues and topics, organizing and moderating the ‘brain storming' and ‘writers' workshop', selection of invitees, refereeing and selecting the contributions besides writing the lead articles /theme and supervising,  the production. These reports have very wide circulation especially among policy makers and officials besides academics. 

Leader of an international research team (with five scholars from IIMA and three from McGill Management School) which was awarded the Shastri-Indo Canadian Institute's large research project for "Reform of State Owned Enterprise", (1998-2001). The IIMA team was the lead research team.

National Science Talent Search Scholarship. It used to be awarded to about 60 students every year across the country with a talent for science as inferred through an examination, and project work.

National Merit Scholarship. Awarded to top rankers in the high school leaving examination.
