India’s logistics sector is undergoing a structural transformation driven by reforms such as GST, rapid growth in e-commerce, and national initiatives like PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan and the National Logistics Policy. Despite these advancements, the warehousing ecosystem remains highly fragmented, ineAicient, and dominated by unorganised players. Traditional warehouses—often small, scattered, and lacking technological integration—are increasingly misaligned with the needs of a modern, multimodal logistics economy. This creates ineAiciencies in inventory management, freight movement, and cost structures. At the same time, the Government of India’s push toward Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) aims to consolidate logistics infrastructure, enable modal shift, and reduce logistics costs. However, the transition from standalone warehousing to integrated logistics ecosystems remains a critical and unresolved challenge. In this workshop, we primarily intend to discuss the objectives of an MMLP, it’s network strategy (including location choice and connectivity with demand/supply nodes), linkages of MMLPs with modal choices, and transportation constraints. Participants will engage with panellists and participate in focus group discussions.
