Description
As policymakers and academic institutions increasingly rely on data-driven frameworks to address social development challenges, gender equality remains a key area where localised evidence and monitoring systems are shaping policy conversations. Discussions around Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 — which focuses on gender equality and women’s empowerment — have gained renewed attention amid efforts to strengthen implementation at the state and district levels.

Against this backdrop, the workshop on SDG 5 hosted at the campus of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad on 7 May brought together government officials, researchers, multilateral agencies and policy experts to discuss the use of district-level data for advancing women-led development. Organised in collaboration with NITI Aayog, the Gates Foundation and the Government of Gujarat, the event also marked the launch of the SDG 5 State, Union Territories and District Reports.
