Nagesh Rao

Dr. Nagesh Rao joined the Institute on August 9, 2010 and resigned on March 29, 2012. During his stay at IIMA, Dr. Rao taught courses in Communication to the postgraduate students and in executive education. Prior to joining IIMA, Dr. Rao was associate professor in the Department of Communication and Journalism, University of New Mexico, where he taught and researched intercultural communication and health communication. His doctoral work was on intercultural communication. He had worked on several family planning and HIV prevention research projects in the United States, Thailand, Tanzania, and India. His interest was in analyzing the role of culture in physician-patient interactions in Brazil, Argentina, India, and the United States. In the United States, Nagesh served as consultant or trainer for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, England, Johns Hopkins University Medical School, Northwestern University Medical School, Kaiser Permanente Health Care, American Academy for Physician and Patient and for Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA). He had worked on a number of funded research projects. In 2002, he was named University Professor at Ohio University.
