NIRF India Rankings 2018 were released today at a ceremony conducted at Vigyan Bhawan. The top universities and colleges of the country were awarded in the ceremony by the HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar. This year the ranking has been given in 9 categories which include the Top Universities, Top Colleges, Top Engineering College, Top Medical College, Top Management College, Top Law Colleges, Top Pharmacy Colleges and Top Architecture Colleges of India. There is also an Overall Category. The Top colleges in various categories include some of the more famous institutes of India including IISc Bangalore which ranked 1 in the Top University and Top University Overall category. Miranda House was Ranked 1 in Top Colleges of India and IIT Madras was the Top Engineering College of India. Other winners include AIIMS in Top Medical Colleges of India category and IIM Ahmedabad in Top Management Colleges of India. Check out the lists as the even unfolded.

There is an overall ranking. Apart from that, there would be a category for Engineering, Management, Law, Architecture, Top Colleges, Top Universities as well as Top Medical Colleges of India. This year many private universities have also participated in the ranking exercise this year. Last year, IIT Madras was ranked as the top engineering institute of India. Lists to be shared shortly.
NIRF India Rankings 2018: Ministry of Human Resource Development, MHRD would be releasing the NIRF India Rankings 2018 shortly at Vigyan Bhavan. The List of top universities/ colleges of India would be released today in an award ceremony by Prakash Javadekar, Minister, HRD. The NIRF Ranking 2018 would be the third installment of the National Institutional Ranking Framework. This year the rankings would be for the disciplines like Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, Architecture, Law as well as Medical, Colleges would be released shortly. The names list of the top universities would be shared here as they are unveiled.
This year, as many as 4000 institutions have participated in the ranking exercise – up by 1000 from last year. The categories have also increased from 4 last year to 6 this year. The new additions to the list are Architecture and Medical. A comprehensive list of top colleges of the country would also be released along with the category wise list for top engineering colleges of the country, top medical colleges of the country, top law colleges of the country and so on. The award and presentation is set to start shortly.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the MHRD and launched by Honourable Minister of Human Resource Development on 29th September 2015. This framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions. The parameters broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.
