We journos merely aimed at changing the world; not a patch on changing the economy which is what these IIM types boasted of – even if the only change agent then was a stuffed envelope slid to the relevant Lord of the Licence Raj. Still, we had to admit that their Marketing skills were a big deal in a time when the consumer’s only choice in goods and services was ‘Take It or Leave It’. Even more exalted were the twice born who had passed out of IIM and IIT (note the egotistic double ‘I’ in both). They were the top dog and the tail, as any of their WAGs would vouch for.
