Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), on Thursday came out with consolidated summer placements report for Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) and Post-Graduate programme in Food and Agri-Business Management (PGP-FABM) batches graduating in 2019. An official communication stated that seven PGP students opted out of the placements process to work on their own ventures under the mentorship of the institute’s Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE).
The summer placements were held in 3 clusters on November 6-12. As many as 120 students made dream applications —applications to firms of their choices in a subsequent cluster with an offer in hand. Accenture Strategy became the top recruiter for the PGP batch with 19 offers. Among the global banks, Citibank made five offers. FinIQ was the top recruiter in Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) cohort with 10 offers.
AB InBev recruited nine students to become the top recruiter in Consumer Goods cohort while RPG Group made the maximum offers of 14 in General Management cohort. Amazon was the highest recruiter in the Retail B2B space, having made 12 offers, while Microsoft led the pack in Consumer Tech cohort with five offers. The Government of Telangana made five offers for its Industry & Commerce and ITE&C departments.
Asha Kaul, chairperson of the Placement Committee, said, “Like every year, there were some old recruiters as some new ones. This healthy mix of old and new recruiters provided space to our students to dream, for the first time, of six companies and select the one that matched their aptitude, skill set and competency.” Sandeep Murisetty, recruitment secretary at IIM-A, said, “We increased the number of dream applications for students which helped them pursue their career aspirations in diverse sectors.
We increased the number of dream applications for students. Active hiring in traditional cohorts like Management Consulting, Private Equity, Asset Management and General Management, apart from more diversi-fied opportunities in cluster 3, has been the highlight of the placement season.”
