Come December and the researchers, scholars and academicians from around the country will gather at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) to discuss issues related to govenance in India. The premiere B-school will host the fourth annual Pan IIM World Management Conference from December 13 to 15, organised by the IIMs across the country and supported by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The previous edition of the conference was held at Goa, Kozhikode and Indore.

The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Towards better govenance’ and the call for research papers has already begun. Researchers have been asked to think creatively of how the Indian govenance systems and public enterprises can be made more robust and effective.

Topics such as challenges associated with the recent initiatives by the govenment of India, lessons to be leant from other countries and making bureaucracy more effective, would be discussed at the three-day conference.

The website of the upcoming conference states, “India’s economic development has historically relied heavily on the performance of its govenments and govenment-controlled public enterprises.”

“More than ever before, effective govenance has become critical to the development and progress of a young and aspiring country like India.”
