India Gold Policy Center (IGPC) at IIMA shall organize its fourth annual Gold & Gold Markets Conference at Ravi J Mathai Auditorium, IIM Ahmedabad. The objective of the Conference is to facilitate interaction among academia, policy makers, and other key stakeholders.

Conference Topics

Topic of research has to be of policy significance related to any segment within the value chain. Some of the identified topics (but not limited to) for the conference are:

  • OTC, spot and derivatives exchange platforms
  • Financing structures from mining to retailing
  • Role of gold as an alternative asset
  • Structure and pricing efficiency of gold markets
  • Consumer behaviour / Market sentiment analysis with respect to gold
  • Retailing and logistics of gold
  • Central Bank policies relating to gold
  • Taxes and tariffs policies on gold trade
  • Household finance and gold
  • Emergence of digital gold
  • Linkages among gold and other precious metals, commodities, equity and debt
  • Implications of macroeconomic (fiscal, monetary and trade) policies for gold markets
  • Foreign Trade Policy on gold and jewellery industry
  • HR practices in gold and jewellery industry
  • Banking and financing aspects related to gold and jewellery trade

 

Kindly note that the research summary / draft of the paper should be mailed to indiagoldevent@iima.ac.in on / before the following dates :

Research summary: October 30, 2020

Draft of Research Paper:  January 25, 2021

Research summary should be in range of 2000 to 2500 words with very clearly stated research problem, methodology and with proper referencing. It should be submitted by 30th October 2020.

The committee would select only 10 promising proposals for the conference. This will be followed up by a one on one call to discuss the topic and guide the researchers wherever they need assistance.

On presentation of the paper at the conference, the presenters go back with the feedback to re-work on the same, and submit it to IGPC by 31st May 2021.

The awards committee will select the best of the 10 papers for a cash prize of Rs. 250,000. The cash prize is sponsored by the Multi Commodity Exchange of India. The prize will be given in the subsequent conference that is February 2022.
