Professor Udai Pareek worked in the Organizational Behaviour Area from 14th May 1973 to 31st January 1985.

Prof. Pareek completed his MA in Psychology (1950) and MA in Philosophy (1952) from Kolkata University. Later, he travelled to Rome where he received a Certificate in Psychology. On returning to India, he completed his PhD in Sociology from Delhi University in 1956.

He began his career as a Psychology Teacher at a school in Jaipur. He then went to Bikaner to teach as a Lecturer at Teacher's College. Prof. Pareek worked as Visiting Faculty at the Delhi University for two years. He also worked as a Psychologist at the National Institute of Basic Education, New Delhi and at IIAR. Later, he served as the Director of SIET, Hyderabad.

Prof. Pareek then joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA as a Visiting Associate Professor for two years. On his return to India, he joined the National Institute of Health Administration and Education as a Professor of Social Sciences for two years. Between 1970 and 1973, he joined the University of Udaipur as the Director of the School of Basic Sciences and Humanities. Subsequently, he joined the Institute as a Professor of Organizational Behavior.

Prof. Pareek was the Founder Chairman of the HR LABS of EMPI, New Delhi. He was also the Distinguished Visiting Professor at IIHMR Jaipur, India. Prof. Pareek was Chairman of the Governing Board of the Institute of Developmental Research and Statistics, Jaipur. He was the Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Committee and Vice President of the Management Board of IIHMR. He had worked in the capacity of Chairman at several institutions including the Governing Boards of the Institute of Development Studies, AHRD and SAAP; the National HRD Network and ISABS. He was also the Advisory Member of the Human Resource Development International (Asia & Middle East). He was a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Global Committee on the Future of Organization Development.

Prof. Pareek was the President of the Andhra Pradesh Psychological Association from 1963 to 1965. He was also Secretary of the Indian Psychological Association in New Delhi. Prof. Pareek also functioned in the capacity of Research Consultant to the Planning Research and Action Center at Jamia Milia Islamia in New Delhi. He was the Director of the Vocational and Educational Guidance Bureau in Bikaner. He had also remained US-AID HRD/OD Advisor to the Ministry of Health, Government of Indonesia.

Prof. Pareek was rewarded a UGC Scholarship to complete his PhD and has several books, monographs, and about 150 papers in Indian and foreign professional journals under his name. He also worked on numerous assignments with L&T, BEML, SBI, Crompton Greaves, Aditya Birla Group etc.

Prof. Pareek loved eating idlis. It was not uncommon for you to find him penning his thoughts at the unlikeliest of places and times. Extremely progressive in thoughts and extremely receptive of views different from his own, nothing pained him more than orthodoxy in thoughts and actions and an unwillingness to change or to accept things without question.
