Professor Bhagwati G Shah worked in the Finance and Accounting Area from 1st July 1964 to 1st July 1971.

Prof. Shah obtained both his BCom and MCom from Mumbai University. Here, he became a member of the Faculty in the Commerce Department. Later, he spent 12 years as a member of the Faculty of Commerce at MS University in Vadodara. He held several administrative posts including Chairman, Board of Studies in Banking & Commerce; President, MS University Student's Cooperative Consumer's Society; and Dean, Faculty of Commerce in 1959.

In 1964, Prof. Shah attended the International Teachers Training Programme by HBS. His key field of interest was Banking and Finance. He developed the first courses in these areas for both, the Post Graduate Programme and the Management Development Programme. Prof. Shah also contributed a great deal to the process of building academic administration at the Institute. During his career at the Institute, he served on innumerable committees either as Chairman or Member. He invented the style of procedure for the Institute's Annual Convocation.

Prof. Shah was a brilliant case writer. He had a unique ability of writing relevant material to make a teaching case worthwhile for the learnings of a practicing manager. Prof. Shah wrote a number of published papers during his career including a thesis on Changing Pattern of World Banking - 1919-47. He also authored Cooperative Credit Movement in Gujarat State-Some Problems, Small Banks-Retrospect and Prospect and Interbank Agreement on Rates of Interest on Deposits and Advances.

Prof. Shah, fondly known as BG, passed away in London. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife and son who practices medicine in England.
