Professor Tirath R Gupta worked in Centre for Management in Agriculture from 19th October 1977 to 14th February 1990.
He received his BA from Punjab University, Chandigarh in 1957 after which he pursued his MA from Delhi University in 1959. Prof. Gupta taught Economics and Agricultural Economics across colleges in India between 1960 and 1970 before moving overseas to become Graduate Assistant at the University of Massachusetts from where he obtained his PhD in 1973. On the completion of his PhD, Prof. Gupta worked at the New England River Basins Commission in Boston as a Research Economist between 1973 and 1974 before returning to India as an Associate Professor in Agricultural Economics at the Punjab Agricultural University in Ludhiana.
Prof. Gupta was the recipient of the Ford Fellowship for Training in Research Methods in 1960. In 1972, he was awarded with a membership to the Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society at the University of Maine.
He authored and co-authored several publications on Agricultural Economics nationally and internationally including, Bovine Development in India: An Overview of Policies and Programmes (1989), Cattle and Buffalo Development in India: An Overview of Policies and Prospects (1987) and Economic Criteria for Decision on Preservation and Use of Inland Wetland in Massachusetts.
