The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad announced final placement for students of Post-Graduate Programme in Food and Agribusiness Management (PGP-FABM) on February 13. As many as 24 companies participated in the event which included TGI, Pioneering Ventures, General Mills. A number of companies were part of the recruitment company for the first time like KPMG, Jain Irrigation, ITC Agri, Grofers, Livlush, Basix and Walmart. Even as Godrej Group of Companies offered jobs to eight students out of 46 students who had participated, PI industries was the second highest recruiter offering jobs to 5 students”, NDTV reported.
“The substantial number of recruiters (national and international) and roles on offer reiterated the trust the industry places in the PGP-FABM Programme and its students”, a statement from the institute said.
With opportunities coming from MNCs to small and medium enterprises as also start-up firms; a number of students decided to opt for work in social and development sector.On February 10, the Institute started placement for PGP 2018 class. The cluster cohort placement process was on until February 16.
Meanwhile, about 420 students of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) received 462 offers from 140 companies, within and outside the country. Jobs were offered to 34 percent of the batch in management consulting sector with a number of leading global banks offering positions. Most of them came from Goldman Sachs, with nine jobs, the institute said in a statement.
Among financial companies and banks, the ICICI Bank offered most number of jobs with nine. In technology consulting sector PriceWaterhouseCoopers offered 12 jobs. The company was followed by Accenture Technology (6), Larsen and Toubro Infotech Consulting (5) and Cognizant Consulting (4). Those students, who opted for sales and marketing roles were hired by major consumer goods companies like Samsung Electronics with 10 offers.
“Many sought-after recruiters surprised us by making many more offers than they had initially indicated and helped us complete our placements earlier than estimated”, Professor Ganesh N Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore, was quoted as saying by Indian Express.
