Research Support by R&P Office

Research constitutes an important academic activity at the institute. The primary objective of research at the institute is to identify and examine those segments of research opportunities which will have maximum long run impact on the community of management practitioners and scholars.  The institute supports IIMA faculty research initiatives with funds that can be classified into four categories: Seed money, Small, Large, and Collaborative depending on quantum of funding and other support provided by the institute.  These research projects typically lead to publications in various forms such as articles in journals, conference papers, books, policy briefs, and working papers.

  1. (a) Seed Money Project (SMP)

Seed money grants are meant to facilitate initial investigations which a researcher may undertake to formulate specific research objectives and hypotheses, research methodology, or to prepare a detailed research proposal to seek research grants from the Institute or from external agencies. SMPs may also be used to prepare journal articles/monographs, book chapters or any other peer reviewed publications.

  1. (b) Small Research Project (SRP)

The Small Research Project is targeted to fund research which would result in peer re- viewed publications such as articles in academic journals, working papers, book chapters, or papers in reputed international conferences.

  1. (c) Large Research Project (LRP)

The Large Research Project is targeted to fund research which results in multiple peer reviewed publications such as articles in academic journals, working papers, book chapters, or papers in reputed international conferences.

  1. (d) Collaborative Research Project (CRP)

The Collaborative Research Project is targeted to fund research projects which results in multiple peer reviewed publications such as articles in academic journals, working papers, book chapters, or papers in reputed international conferences. The CRPs are desirably multi-disciplinary research projects with the active involvement of a team of institute faculty.

In addition to the above categories, R&P provides support for Book writing, Student internship project, Copy editing support and conference support.
