Over more than five decades of its existence, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), has been unwavering in its commitment to the goal of educating and training leaders, entrepreneurs, and managers, and entrepreneurs who contribute meaningfully to society. This commitment has led IIMA to be recognized as belonging to the league of the best B-schools in the world. The success of the institute and its graduates lies in its unique practice oriented pedagogy.
Recognizing the crucial role of agriculture and allied activities in the nation, the Institute launched a two-year post graduate programme focused on the sector in the 1970s. The objective of this Post- Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management (PGP-ABM) has been to prepare students for careers in management, finance, and consulting related to agriculture, food, rural, and allied sectors in the economy. Over the years, the graduates from this programme have played important roles in the agribusiness and related sectors.
The programme has been consistently ranked number one in Agribusiness and Food Industry Management programmes in the World by Eduniversal, France. Its goal is to remain the premier programme for educating the sector's leaders. It provides comprehensive exposure to managerial concepts, tools, and techniques required by the sector. The programme also exposes students to the rural environment, society, and institutions through an innovative Rural Immersion Module in which students spend four weeks in rural areas and undertake live projects. Rural immersion brings students closer to ground realities and constraints in the vast rural market, and also gives them an exposure and firm base on which they could base their future decisions.
PGP-ABM is specifically tailored to produce the high caliber of leadership talent that this vital sector requires. I am confident that programme graduates will contribute to lead food and agribusiness industries in India and the world over
