Financial Aid

Students admitted to Ph.D. Programme are provided fellowships.

The fellowship covers all academic expenses (consisting of tuition, computer, library, placement, and alumni fees) and living expenses (comprising medical insurance, boarding and lodging).

In addition, students in their first and second year are entitled to a monthly stipend of Rs. 37,700; students are eligible for a monthly stipend of Rs. 40,700 after clearing the Comprehensive Exam; and students are eligible for a monthly stipend of Rs. 45,200 after submission of the TAC approved thesis proposal; which is inclusive of food allowance. An additional allowance of Rs. 50,000 is provided to enable students to purchase their own personal computer.

A Contingency Allowance of Rs. 25,000 per year (for five years) to cover research expenses, expenses on books, photocopying, etc. is also available to all students. They are also entitled to an amount of Rs. 1,75,000/- (upper limit) for attending international conference/workshop/summer school during their entire tenure with Ph.D. Programme (maximum 5 years).

The Institute may find support for exceptional international students.

Housing

Unmarried Students:

IIMA has 30 student dormitories. Each dorm has ten single rooms on each floor, arranged around a stairway and a tearoom. Stay in the dormitories is compulsory for students. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are served in the campus mess. The rooms are fully furnished including a telephone connection. Married Students:

If a student is married and has kids, they are eligible for Married Student Housing (MSH) which is a 1BHK flat inside the campus. For a virtual tour click here

Office Space:

Limited office space is available for doctoral students.
